Green Crescent, under the auspicesof the then Şeyhülislam İbrahim Haydarizade, in order to prevent the occupationforces from spreading alcohol and drugs in our society and destroying thespirit of struggle against the occupation, during and after the First WorldWar. It was founded by Mazhar Osman and his friends with the permission ofSultan Vahdeddin on March 5, 1920 in Istanbul under the name "Hilal-iAhdar". The dates of 1 - 7 March, when the Green Crescent was established,are celebrated as the Green Crescent week in our country.
The name "Hilal-i Ahdar"was later changed to "Green Crescent" and "Green Crescent",and in 1934, under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's Presidency and İsmet İnönü's PrimeMinistry, Green Crescent was granted "Public Benefit AssociationStatus" by the decision of the Council of Ministers.
